Round table "Migration between the global and the local – new challenges of contemporary society" held

On 18 September 2026, within the university institutional project "Migration Management – Experiences and Perspectives (UMIP)", IP-UNIST-50, the round table "Migration between the global and the local – new challenges of contemporary society" was held in the Council Chamber of the Faculty of Law of the University of Split.
Sixteen stakeholders took part in the round table, each with their own presentation. Almost every presentation prompted discussion and an exchange of views and ideas among the participants. Numerous open questions and room for interdisciplinary research were identified.
We consider particularly valuable the participation of practitioners who, through their work, are in direct contact with migrants and can point to gaps in the legislative framework – for example the Head of the Service for Illegal Migration of the Split-Dalmatia Police Administration, a foreign-language professor who runs language courses for migrants, an assistant professor from the "Dr. Franjo Tuđman" University of Defence and Security, and others.
